Our Hotel building originally housed the Cantine Speziali and dates back to the early 1900s.
Our own history began in 1973 when our grandfather, Giorgio Rama, decided to buy this building inside the town walls of Lazise to establish a wine cellar, called the Azienda Agricola Girasole.
The top floor, where today most of our rooms are located, was used for drying grapes on cane gratings known as “arele”. Bunches of grapes were left to dry over the winter and then used to make passito wines.
After two generations dedicated to vines, grapes, and winemaking we transferred production to our farm in Bardolino, and converted part of the old building into a hotel.
This was the origin of Cangrande Hotel, a new hospitality enterprise that remains under family management, and retains the quality wines, furniture, and calm silence of the old wine cellar.
In the morning we serve a generous buffet breakfast. You can choose whether to take a hot drink on the spacious portico terrace or in the original breakfast room, which is still furnished with big oak wine casks.
Where the details make the difference.
Spacious, friendly, and luminous: an enticing portico terrace welcomes our guests on arrival and then in the evenings it lights up for food and wine tasting, and musical events. The portico is fully furnished with high class items in different styles, some modern and others antiques, but all harmoniously matched.
Our bedrooms, some recently refurbished, are perfect for one or two people.
One of our highlights is the Tower Suite, converted from an old lookout tower of Medieval Lazise. We also offer the gorgeous Junior Suite Bollicina, and our charming Prestige Plus, Prestige, Comfort, and Classic Minimal rooms, repurposed from the spaces of the old Girasole Wine Cellar and guardian’s quarters, dating back to the early 1900s.
We provide parking and a covered garage where our guests can leave their vehicles and sports equipment. A charging station is available for electric cars.
